Hi Everyone!
I’m Christine Markel, and I grew up in sunny San Diego, California. I’ve always loved being near the water. I enjoy surfing when I can and love swimming in the lakes and rivers around Texas. When I’m not in the water, you’ll probably find me snowboarding in the mountains. Being active and outdoors is a big part of who I am!
Sports have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, I played lacrosse, soccer, and water polo, and I also played soccer in college. Those experiences taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and having fun!
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Recreation and a master’s degree in Deaf Education. Combining my love for sports and movement with teaching is one of my favorite parts of the job.
Outside of school, I’m a proud mom to two amazing children—Oceana and Storm—and our Doberman, Kaya, who’s always ready for an adventure, whether that’s swimming, summiting mountains, or a game of fetch. My husband and I love spending time together as a family, staying active, and creating lasting memories.
My goal at TSD is to create a fun, inclusive, and empowering space where every student feels encouraged to move, grow, and thrive.
