Ms. Jayne Taylor

Hello! My name is Jayne Taylor, and I’m excited to be your 8th Grade Science teacher!

I grew up in Austin, Texas, and I’m proud to be a TSD alumna. Austin has always been home to me, so coming back to teach and give back to the community that shaped me is very meaningful.

I graduated from Gallaudet University with a B.S. in Public Health and minors in Biology and Data Science. I never expected to become a teacher until I had the opportunity to work as a substitute teacher. That experience changed my path. I discovered how much I enjoyed working with students, building meaningful connections, and watching them grow and gain confidence each day. Seeing that growth inspired me to become a teacher.

I love learning new things and exploring the world through travel. I’ve visited 23 countries and counting! I enjoy bringing stories and experiences from my travels into the classroom because I believe learning is not limited to a textbook. The world is full of opportunities to explore, ask questions, and discover something new.

My goal as a teacher is to help students stay curious, build confidence, and dream big. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, trying new things, and discovering what they are capable of. I hope my experiences remind students that their future can take them places they may not even imagine yet.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading mystery and romance novels, playing volleyball, swimming, traveling, and spending time with my tuxedo cat, Tux Chaplin.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will gladly respond!

I’m excited for this year and can’t wait to learn, explore, and grow together!
