Hello!

Kat Murphy, LMSW, Certified Investigator, and CFSW, is a School Social Worker and Investigator in the Student Support Services Division at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD). Since joining TSD in 2014, she has advocated for students and families, connected them with essential resources, and helped them navigate school and social service systems. As campus liaison for the Department of Family and Protective Services and the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Program, she coordinates protective and support services for students. Kat also leads the school’s annual Giving Tree program and conducts Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) investigations to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
 
In previous social work roles, Kat served as a School and Investigative Social Worker at the North Carolina School for the Deaf and as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. She has also collaborated with probation and parole agencies and provided individual counseling to clients.
 
A native Tennessean, Kat earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee.
