Kat Murphy

Kat Murphy is a School Social Worker and Investigator in the Student Support Services Division at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD). She has worked at TSD since 2014. In her role, she supports students and families, helps them find important resources, and guides them through school and social service systems. She also serves as the campus contact for the Department of Family and Protective Services and the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Program, helping coordinate services for students who need extra support. Kat leads the school’s annual Giving Tree program and conducts Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) investigations to help keep the school safe and supportive.

 

Before working at TSD, Kat served as a School and Investigative Social Worker at the North Carolina School for the Deaf and worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. She has also worked with probation and parole agencies and provided one-on-one counseling to individuals.

 

Kat is originally from Tennessee. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee.
