Parents of students receiving special education services may be eligible for Parent-Directed Special Education Services (PDSES), a Texas Education Agency program that provides a one-time $1,500 grant to support students’ educational needs. This funding allows families to purchase approved educational goods and services through the PDSES online marketplace.
The 2025–2026 PDSES application window opens April 1 at 8:00 a.m. CST and closes April 30 at 5:00 p.m. CST. Applications are only accepted during this time frame. To apply, parents must have a My SPEDTex account, which can be created at any time prior to the application opening.
To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled in a Texas public school (PK–12), receive special education services through an IEP, and not have received a PDSES grant in the past, as this is a one-time award. Grant funds may be used to purchase items such as books, tablets, laptops, school and sensory supplies, as well as services including tutoring, counseling, therapy, social skills support, and adaptive fitness programs
Please note that PDSES funding is limited and awarded based on prioritization, with funds expected to be available in fall 2026. Families are encouraged to review eligibility requirements and application details early.
