TSD’s Academic Bowl is holding open practice after school every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm! What is the Academic Bowl? It is an exciting team competition where students use their knowledge like athletes use their skills. Created by Gallaudet University, the Academic Bowl encourages academic excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship for deaf and hard of hearing students. Teams answer fast-paced questions across subjects such as math, science, social studies, language and literature, current events, arts and entertainment, and sports. Teams compete at regional tournaments, and top teams advance to the national competition at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
During our after-school practice, high school students and 8th graders will experience Academic Bowl as a real sport. Students will work together in teams, take turns answering questions, and compete in a final timed team round. This is the perfect opportunity to see what Academic Bowl is all about—without pressure!
