8th Grade Promotion Speaker

Transcript for Promotion Speaker Video:

Rynata: I heard there is something exciting coming up on May 22! What is it?

Nevan: May 22? What is on that day? Oh right, 8th Grade promotion! Exciting!

R:  There is something new this year - an 8th grader will come up on the stage and give a speech. How does one apply?

N:  The speaker will be 8th grader, of course, and has to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above.

R: The speaker will only have 1 ISS placement or none throughout the school year. If applicable - the placement to ISS will be reviewed and determine whether the offense was severe or not.

N:  The speech should be 3 to 5 minutes long, either signed in ASL video or written/typed. Your submission is to be submitted to us directly. The use of AI in any form in your speech is prohibited.

R: The speech should be about your class, the journey through middle school years and the upcoming chapter in High School.

N: How will the speaker be selected? 8th graders will get together and vote on 3 teachers and 2 administrators to be judges. The judges then will vote on the speaker according to the rubric and it is solely based on the content of the presentation, not factoring in the speaker as a person.

R: When? Beginning now until the deadline of May 8th. Submit your speech to us!

Both: Good luck and congratulations!

Our Student Council Sponsors communicate the new concept of the 8th grade promotion speaker and how students can sign up and be considered for the honor of being selected for this role.
