With this opportunity also comes responsibility. Students are expected to care for their assigned laptop and use it appropriately in accordance with TSD’s Laptop Use Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy. The laptop remains the property of TSD and is intended for the assigned student’s use. Students are expected to follow TSD guidelines regarding appropriate technology use, approved software, online behavior, network security, and the proper care of their device.
Forms Required Before Laptop Distribution
Students and parents/guardians must complete and sign the required laptop forms and submit them to the 9–12 Office. These include the Student & Parent Laptop Use Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) forms. Families must also submit the required $50 annual laptop insurance payment. The insurance provides coverage for theft, vandalism, and accidental damage; however, it does not cover intentional damage, lost chargers or cords, or damage to the protective case.
Once the required forms have been submitted, expectations have been reviewed with students, and the insurance payment has been received, students will be permitted to take their laptops home or to the dorm. Families who prefer for their student’s laptop to remain at school may submit that request in writing to the 9–12 Office.
We are excited about the opportunities the 1:1 Laptop Initiative will provide our students. Thank you to our families for partnering with us to help students use their new technology responsibly, safely, and effectively as a tool for learning and success!
