Good morning, parents,
I’m happy to share that we had a wonderful and very positive experience during our introduction to Casa de Miel! The students had the opportunity to explore the grounds and experience all that this beautiful space has to offer.
We began our day in the outdoor circle area, a peaceful space surrounded by nature, seating, and hammocks. The students relaxed in the hammocks while writing about what they saw, smelled, and felt. They then shared their observations and experiences with one another.
Next, the students headed inside to the living room to cool off and regroup before our next activity. We explored the vegetable garden and fruit trees, where the students had the opportunity to taste fresh figs right from the tree. Some students also sampled mint leaves from the garden. Our activity was to collect flowers and leaves to create beautiful sun catchers. It was such a fun way to connect with nature!
After lunch, the students visited the horses. They learned how to approach and interact with the horses respectfully and safely. They had the opportunity to groom the horses, brushing their manes and bodies, and some students even got to braid a horse’s tail!
The students then worked together as a team to guide their horse through an obstacle course, which required communication, cooperation, and teamwork.
All in all, it was a wonderful introduction to Casa de Miel, and we are excited about what’s ahead!
On October 29th, we will begin our class rotations at Casa de Miel, incorporating Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. We look forward to having the students learn their core subjects through meaningful, real-world, hands-on experiences.
I’ve included some pictures from last week’s visit so you can get a glimpse of all the fun and learning!
Have a great week,
