Enjoy a full breakfast, live music, and fun while supporting a great cause. Early bird tickets available for $8/person until Feb 2, $10/person at the door, with First Responders and Kids ages 5 & under getting in for free! Proceeds benefit TSD and its organizations.

Austin, Texas – November 30, 2023 – Today, students from Texas School for the Deaf’s (TSD) Culinary Arts program visit the Texas Capitol delivering homemade goodies to state leaders in time for the holidays - a tradition the school began more than 25 years ago.

In his monthly vlog, TSD Superintendent Peter Bailey discusses updates for the month of November, emphasizing the significance of family, friends, and celebration during this time. He highlights the core values of TSD, which include Learn, Grow, and Belong (LGB), and how he has integrated the principles of Accountability, Commitment, and Expectations (ACE) into the school's culture. Peter also shares his vision for the school's future, focusing on the motto "TSD Is, TSD Can, TSD Will" to promote unity and belonging. He mentions his recent activities, including building connections with legislative offices, the successful Homecoming event, and the partnership with the TSD Foundation. Bailey concludes by mentioning his upcoming attendance at the Greater Austin Foundation for the Deaf Gala in mid-November, expressing his commitment to further communication and representation for TSD.

Moreover, he underscored the significance of TSD's alumni community, encompassing both graduates and those who attended the school. Bailey encouraged all alumni to actively participate in TSD events. He also discussed various events he recently attended, expressing his admiration for the students at our school. He mentioned the generous $50,000 award from Harbor Freight Tools for Schools to Keith Baker, the successful TSD Foundation gala, and the upcoming TSD homecoming event.

Keith Baker, an automotive teacher at Texas School for the Deaf, is one of 25 winners of the 2023 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.

Peter Bailey, the new Superintendent at the Texas School for the Deaf since July 3rd, expresses gratitude to the retiring superintendent, Claire Bugen, for her remarkable 25 years of service. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining a strong connection with alumni through monthly vlogs, aiming to bridge the gap that often occurs after students graduate. In the latest vlog, Peter discusses safety and security policies, urging visitors to adhere to identification requirements for access to school buildings. He also encourages community members and alumni to engage with various school organizations and invites everyone to the upcoming TSD homecoming event on October 21st.
