Pay

- The state pays 100% of health insurance premiums for full-time employees and 50% for dependents.

Texas School for the Deaf offers:
- Generous paid leave (annual, sick, compensatory).
- Average of 15 paid holidays per year. (see the State Auditor’s Office holiday schedule)
- Vacation and sick leave are earned monthly; accrual increases with years of state service.
Note on Contract Employees:
Many TSD positions (including teachers and many professional roles) are contract positions tied to the school year. These employees receive the same health insurance, retirement, and core benefits as classified employees, though paid leave, holidays, and work calendars follow their specific contract length and the school calendar.
