TSD Middle School 6th and 7th Grade Science Syllabus

Class Requirements: (Keep this in the front of your binder)

1.   Bring materials to class each day.  This includes your 3-ring binder and a pencil.

2.   Participate in class.  I expect you to participate every day in class and lab.

3.   Write down all assignments.  Assignments and due dates will be posted in the classroom on the board- write everything in your planner.  

4.   Keep a Science Journal.  You will have your own Science Journal that you will use to take notes, write lab reports. You are expected to keep your Journal neat.

5.   Keep a Science Binder (3-ring binder) up-to-date, complete, and neat. 

6.   Test study guides are usually given for the chapter tests.  Students should use them to study for tests.
 
Grading procedure: 
 
Students are evaluated on active and thoughtful participation in class discussions, regular and careful completion of homework assignments, scores on essays and tests, and effort and progress shown through the semester. Students will be critiqued on a daily and weekly basis. 
 
 
Attendance/Participation: 15%
 
In Class Assignments: 30%
 
Quizzes: 20%
 
Homework: 15%
 
Final Exam(s): 20%

 
Classroom expectations and consequences: 

     1. Arrive on time with all materials
 
     2. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself
 
     3. Follow directions
 
     4. Stay on-task during work times
 

Consequences: 
 
      1. Verbal warnings
 
      2. Student conferences 
 
      3. 5 minutes in chill out area
 
      4. Loss of privileges
 
      5. Discipline referral if it is necessary
 
      6. Reflection sheet
