STEM Educator and Academic Bowl Coach

I’m Bailey Moers and I teach Precalculus, Statistics, Robotics, and I also coach our Academic Bowl team. I enjoy creating a classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and explore connections between concepts. Whether I’m guiding students through the logic of a math problem, analyzing real-world data, or helping them build and program robots, my goal is to make learning both challenging and meaningful. Coaching Academic Bowl allows me to support students in expanding their knowledge beyond the classroom and develop quick thinking and teamwork.

Expect dynamic discussions, engaging problem-solving sessions, and the occasional mathematical joke to keep things light. Our goal is to build a strong foundation and have fun while doing it. After all, math is not just about numbers. It’s about patterns, logic, and sometimes even a bit of magic!

A bit about me...

I began my academic journey at the Maryland School for the Deaf, where I developed a strong passion for learning. I then pursued my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Gallaudet University, where I honed my skills and deepened my love for the subject. My quest for knowledge didn’t stop there. I earned my Master of Science in Education from New Mexico Tech, further fueling my commitment to teaching and inspiring students. Outside the classroom, you’ll find me indulging in my love for thrilling sports. Whether I’m carving through the snow on my skis or exploring the underwater world while scuba diving, I’m always seeking new adventures.

Grading Policy:

  • Each course will have its own grading system. Please refer to the syllabus for more details.
Extra Credit: The instructor will allow opportunities for extra credit. The two types are:
  • Research and Presentations: Opportunities to research a relevant topic or issue and present findings to the class, contributing to overall class learning.
  • Optional Assignments: Additional assignments or projects that align with course content and objectives. These will be announced in advance, and students may choose to complete them for extra credit.

Late Work Policy:
Late Submission (1-3 Days Late):

  • A letter grade will be dropped from the final grade for each day the assignment is late. (1 day is equivalent to a 10% penalty in other words)

Late Submission (More Than 3 Days Late):

  • Assignments submitted more than 3 days after the due date will receive a grade of zero (0). No credit will be awarded for assignments submitted past this grace period.

Tardiness and Absences Policy:

  • Excused Absences/Tardiness: Students must provide documentation (e.g., medical note) and have up to two days to make up missed work. Excused absences will receive 1 point for the missed work, pending completion. Each additional day of unexcused absence will result in having an additional day to complete the assignment.
  • Unexcused Absences/Tardiness: Missed work will receive 0 points, and the absence will be recorded as unexcused.
