8th Grade Math Teacher - Dylan Sicoli

Hello! I’m excited to begin my third year of teaching at my alma mater, Texas School for the Deaf! I graduated from TSD in 2017 before attending Gallaudet University, where I earned my degree in Risk Management and Insurance. After college, I spent two years working in the insurance industry before realizing that my true passion was back home at TSD—working with students and giving back to the community that helped shape who I am today.

This year, I’ll be teaching 8th Grade Mathematics! My goal is simple: I want students to feel successful in math. Math can be challenging, and making mistakes is part of learning. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, working together, and building confidence along the way. And yes—we’re going to have some fun with math too!

Outside of the classroom, I also serve as the Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach at TSD. Coaching is another big passion of mine because I get to work with students in a completely different environment. Whether we’re solving equations in the classroom or competing on the basketball court, I enjoy watching students challenge themselves, improve, and succeed.

Throughout the year, students will explore a variety of topics aligned with the 8th Grade TEKS, including equations and inequalities, proportional relationships, functions, geometry, transformations, the Pythagorean Theorem, data analysis, and more. Most importantly, we’ll focus on developing problem-solving skills, explaining our thinking, and learning how math connects to the real world.

When I’m not teaching or coaching, you’ll probably find me somewhere outdoors—fishing, playing golf, or throwing discs on a disc golf course.

I’m looking forward to another great year at TSD and can’t wait to see how much we learn, grow, and accomplish together. Let’s make it a great year!
