¡Hola! Welcome to My Class!
Hi, I’m a teacher for Multidisciplinary Program in high school. I teach General Employability Skills, Introduction to Culinary Arts, Human Growth and Development, Senior Seminar and Making Connections.
I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, and then moved to Houston during my teenage years. I graduated high school in Baytown, Texas, and later attended the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, where I graduated in 2008 with a degree in digital media.
I worked as a teacher assistant for almost eight years—two years in Houston and six years at the Texas School for the Deaf. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Texas State University in San Marcos.
I began my teaching career as a long-term substitute for Algebra I and Math Models, then taught Introduction to Culinary Arts for one year. I am now teaching all of the classes such as Dollar and Sense, and so forth related to Life Skills. This October will mark my tenth year working at the Texas School for the Deaf.
I am a mom to one human daughter and two fur babies (dogs). My hobbies are crocheting, drawing, painting, cooking, baking, and gardening.
Looking forward to what a new school year will come! A fresh school year means new faces, new challenges, and plenty of little victories to celebrate along the way.
My motto is "Don’t let your disability define you—let it be a part of who you are, and thrive."
