Students Lead the Way During Special Superintendent Visit

Students Lead the Learning During Superintendent Visit

This week, our campus had the honor of hosting Superintendent Peter Bailey, who visited our science classroom to engage directly with students. The visit was a powerful example of student leadership and ownership of learning.

Under the guidance of science teacher Mr. Nevan Graves, students prepared and delivered a mini-lesson completely independently, taking full responsibility for both instruction and activities. The class chose to teach Superintendent Bailey about the soil layers beneath the ground, incorporating a hands-on, engaging “dirt cup” activity to demonstrate their understanding.

To wrap up the lesson, students led a Blooket review game and even taught Superintendent Bailey how to play! The session was also filmed, capturing authentic interactions that highlighted our students' confidence, collaboration, and preparation.

Mr. Graves shared how proud he is of the hard work students demonstrated over the past week in preparation for this special opportunity. The visit showcased not only strong academic learning but also our students’ ability to lead, collaborate, and communicate effectively.
